Restaurants were a big part of my childhood growing up in Los Angeles, so I’ve always collected these matchbook covers from old Hollywood restaurants. (Matchbook covers…now from another time)

These photos are from a website called Hollywoodland, A Site About Hollywood and It’s History. Sardi’s was designed by world renowned architect Rudolph Schindler and yet it was covered up and turned into a sex shop. When I walked through the old section of Rome near the Colisseum I couldn’t believe the abundance of statuary just lying around. It was as if there was just too much of it. I guess when you have too much of something it loses its importance. Like money. In Hollywood there are just too many layers of History to peel back.
